Dance studio in North Mackay
International Dance Affair was founded in 1989 by Mrs Christine Shield, and the original dance studio provided classes in Ballet and Highland Dancing. Over the next couple of years Tap, Jazz and Irish Dancing were added to the curriculum. The studio is now owned and directed by Mrs Sandra Danastas and also offers Contemporary, Baton Twirling, Acro and Hip Hop classes.
Throughout the years, dancers at International Dance Affair have enjoyed numerous successes. These accomplishments include countless premiership and title winners, state, national championship place-getters, world championship qualifiers, bursary winners, many honours and honours with distinction, students in all examination areas, dancers who have attained teaching qualifications, dancers selected with OzScot (The Australian Highland Dancing Team) to perform in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and other performances throughout Australia, Europe, the United States and Canada. Professional dancers travel all over the world!
International Dance Affair is based in Mackay and is a fully air conditioned dance studio that endeavours to provide a safe, positive, friendly and educational environment for all students. We hold our Baton Twirling classes at North Mackay State High School Hall, which has a high ceiling to allow for those big Baton tosses.
It is the mission of the studio to provide each and every student with the skills to enhance self-confidence and self-discipline, develop coordination abilities and to perform confidently in front of audiences, while constantly developing their technique and love of dance, all in a nurturing and family-friendly environment.
We encourage students to achieve and perform to their greatest potential. We provide many opportunities for students to perform before audiences which will build their personal confidence and self-esteem.
Do you need to be an aspiring dancer to join the dance studio?
Not at all! We have dancers who join as a way to cut loose and have some fun, as well as those who do dance as a way to exercise and chisel their bodies. We welcome everyone at our dance studio who has a desire to learn and move!
International Dance Affair students will thoroughly enjoy the art of dance with the team of dance professionals at IDA.

International Dance Affair provides numerous dance classes taught by fully qualified and passionate teachers in our family friendly air conditioned studios. We accept new students of all ages and skill levels, from budding competitive dancing stars to those who just want to have fun. Our studio is in North Mackay.
